I absolutely LOVE teaching art classes.
Though I do not have a degree in teaching or in art, I have spent 4+ years teaching in various creative forms. I have worked with kids in daycares, preschools, and kindergartens, and have also taught several homeschool art classes over the years. I have also taught youth ages 11-18 at a scout camp in many different creative skills. (Just in case you wanted an idea of my credibility, haha).
I am currently offering watercolor and basic art classes in the Weber and Davis counties in Northern Utah. I can travel to a location convenient for you, or I can provide them from my home or venue in Ogden.
I offer both private and group classes for ages 6+ (yes, that includes adults :)
Please contact me for specific days and times!
All of my pricing is on a monthly rate. I am open to negotiation.
2hr Weekly classes: $80 per student per month. ($60 per additional family member.)
2hr Monthly classes: $25 per student per month.
My approach to art and teaching is based on connection, understanding, and expression. It will challenge but also validate each member of a class. I don't just teach art; I hope to provide a space, thoughts, and skills to help each individual reach their own creative goals and dreams, as well as discover the deeper passions that drive their art and the deeper mentalities that block their freedom to create as they wish. This takes time, patience, exploration, and trust... but I believe these too will help us connect more with everyone and our natural world. I believe we are each creators in our own way, and that it comes from a desire to express oneself and connect with the souls of others.
In my classes I focus on helping the individuals, which means that I won't criticize any person, however I do stive to compassionately offer honest tips that may help them to reach their own goals, not mine. The amount of loving critique offered will be discussed during your first meeting with me. I wish for everyone to feel safe, valued, and respected in each class.
All of my classes follow a fluid outline, with themes or principles that underline the techniques and skills we will practice in the class. For example, the first months theme is Connection, and we will discuss the importance of connecting with ourselves and our feelings as well as each tool we use to create our art. We will learn proper ways to use each of those tools and the techniques associated with them, such as strokes, form, color theory, and much more. Other themes are Breath, Risk, Discovery, Exploration, and Communication. Throughout the months we will learn more skills such as: contrast, WOW, WOD, shading, composition, layering, and much more.
